The Best Books For Girlbosses
The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck – Mark Manson
I included this book in my 10 books that will change your life post and gave it the first place spot on this list because IT’S THAT GOOD. Honestly, pick this one up if you haven’t already.
Chances are, you give a lot of f*cks.
I know we live in a world where we act like we don’t care, nothing bothers us, but that’s all BS and you know it.
We’re all overly stressed out over crap. “What will I make for dinner? Am I gaining weight? Why didn’t Melissa wish me a happy birthday? Alex liked that girl’s pic and won’t text me back. Who is she? Christina didn’t invite me to the beach. Is she mad at me? What will I wear to Fred’s wedding? I wonder if my ex will be there.”
If this reminds you of what goes on in your head on a regular basis, you are giving too many f*cks for the wrong things. Mark makes a great point to reserve our f*cks for what truly matters in life.

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear – Elizabeth Gilbert
This book will inspire you to be brave and follow your passion. She has a very unique and different perspective on living your truth without fear of judgment or failure.
Thanks to Liz I started a blog and now write openly and freely without fear of judgment.
I create for the sake of creating simply because I love it and don’t care what comes out of it. It’s a beautiful mindset shift to adopt and can benefit you immensely even if your pursuits aren’t creative.
If you’re unfamiliar with Liz she’s also the writer of the famous Eat, Pray, Love book.
..
You Are A Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life – Jen Sincero
This isn’t as self-helpy as it sounds I promise.
It’s more of a no-bs manifesto that will silence your inner critic and help you be more confident in yourself. It’s a realistic and funny read that we all need every once in a while.
No matter how confident you are, sometimes you have doubts about yourself and your ability, this book will help you silence that inner voice that does you no favors.
Become your biggest cheerleader and live the life you love with Jen’s tips.

I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was: How to Discover What You Really Want and How to Get It – Barbara Sher, Barbara Smith
This is an old book (published in 1995), but I just discovered it and it is life changing.
If you’re going through a ‘What am I doing with my life?!” quarter-life crisis, you need this. The main takeaway from this book is you need a direction in life, you can’t just set sail and hope to make it to a beautiful paradise island.
A life without direction is a life without passion, and that’s no way to live.
Overcome the blocks that inhibit your success and become the person you’ve always wanted to be.

She Means Business: Turn Your Ideas into Reality and Become a Wildly Successful Entrepreneur – Carrie Green
Carrie started her own business when she was 20. She had very ambitious, big dreams and she knows the struggles of young entrepreneurs.
Her book was like a coffee break with a close friend that tells you how it is. She is so easy to relate to and down to earth, you’ll feel like she just gets you!
On top of this, she gives honest, real, and meaningful advice for taking your vision and making it a reality. She also has this way of making you feel like you can do anything.
If you’re an entrepreneur (or aspiring), you need to scoop this one up and read it continuously. I pick it up every time things get tough and I need someone to motivate and push me forward.

Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office – Lois P. Frankel
A couple of nice girl errors you can be making in your career:
- Mistake #13: Avoiding office politics. If you don’t play the game, you can’t possibly win.
- Mistake #21: Multi-tasking. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should do it.
- Mistake #54: Failure to negotiate. Don’t equate negotiation with confrontation.
- Mistake #70: Inappropriate use of social media. Once it’s out there, it’s hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube.
- Mistake #82: Asking permission. Children, not adults, ask for approval. Be direct, be confident.
If you are a businesswoman and aspire to move up the corporate ladder, or at the very least, be taken seriously by your male counterparts, you need this one.
Even if you are self-employed and don’t think this is the right book for you, it can be mighty helpful. As woman, we sometimes are conditioned to be nice and as entrepreneurs, we sometimes (more often than not) need to be tough and direct.

Radical Self-Love: A Guide to Loving Yourself and Living Your Dreams – Gala Darling
I think self-love is the basis of everything in life. How we approach business, our relationships, family; everything originates from the relationship we have with ourselves.
You ever notice how happy and self-loving people seem to get farther in life? They have great jobs, a great partner, and are just overall better off. They aren’t happy and loving because they have these things, they have these things because they are happy and self-loving!
When you finally realize your magnificence, you won’t settle for anything less than the best, because you truly believe you are worth it.
If you struggle with self-love on occasion (we all do!), get this book and start changing the relationship you have with yourself.
