9 Fun & Unique Ways To Wear A Bandana
I’ve always loved bandanas. There’s just something so chic and fun about them. I especially love that they make my unstyled hair look ‘done’ and as if I have put an actual effort. I normally wash my hair Sunday night, straighten out any little kinks with my iron and then just head to bed. When Monday Morning rolls around, the last thing I want to be concerned about is styling my hair, so bandanas have been a lifesaver lately.
More than that, they are super affordable. You can get a pack of 12 for less than 20 bucks on amazon here in an array of different colors so you never get bored.
If you want to accessorize your style with a bandana here are 6 ways to rock one.

Bandana Styles

Wrapped Around a Low Pigtails

Low pigtail braids or twists suddenly look 10x more intentional when you tie a bandana around the base of each one instead of a regular hair tie. You can match both sides, or mix patterns for a more eclectic look.
It’s a great option for when your ends aren’t cooperating — the bandana distracts beautifully. This one’s a particular favorite for festivals or beach days.
Around Your Neck

So chic. This look will instantly make a plain outfit stand out. I would wear this with just jeans and a plain white tee like both images above. A jean jacket wouldn’t hurt either.
As a Head Scarf

Think old Hollywood glamour but make it casual. Fold your bandana into a triangle, place the flat edge along your hairline, pull the two ends back behind your head and tie them into a knot at the nape of your neck — tucking the pointed tail in as you go. It completely covers your hair which makes it the ultimate bad hair day savior. Throw on some oversized sunglasses and you look like you’re about to board a yacht. No one needs to know you haven’t washed your hair in four days.
Around a Bun

Instead of a plain bun, you can wrap a scarf around it. Give it the look of the chunky scrunchies from the 90’s which I love.

You can rock it high or low.
Gives you an elevated look to your everyday messy bun.
Tied as a Half-Up Knot

This one is so easy and looks like you spent way more time on it than you did. Take the top half of your hair like you would for a half-up, half-down style, and instead of using a regular hair tie, wrap your bandana around it and tie it in a knot or bow at the top.
It gives real 90s-meets-cottagecore energy and works equally well with straight hair or natural waves. Bonus: it keeps hair out of your face without the commitment of a full updo.
In a Braid

Okay, this one requires a little bit more skill so click here to watch a YouTube video showing you how to do it. With just a little bit of practice, you could have a beautiful, bohemian inspired braid.
As a Headband

The most common style, or at least the one that was my go-to throughout college. No skill required for this one but you still look put-together.
The Classic Rosie Wrap

You’ve seen this one on every Pinterest mood board and honestly? It deserves the hype. Fold your bandana into a thick strip and wrap it all the way around your head, tying it in a knot or bow at the top front.
Tuck your ends in or let them stick out — both work. It’s giving vintage pin-up without trying too hard. Pair it with a white tee and high-waisted jeans and you’re basically a walking aesthetic.
On a PonyTail

Another ridiculously easy one that takes 10 seconds. Simply create a regular ponytail with a hair elastic and then tie your bandana of choice over it.
