Wondering how you can stay healthy on a busy schedule?! You don’t have to sacrifice your work or social life to be healthy! Just have to be prepared and follow some easy tips and tricks…

Life can be really busy – juggling a career, children, and everything else that fills the space in between. Finding the time to follow a healthy lifestyle can seem impossible – but it really isn’t. With a few tips and tricks, you can stay healthy with a busy schedule, you just need to know how!

Here are some ways that you can stay healthy, even when you feel like your schedule consumes your every spare minute.

How To Stay Healthy With A Busy Schedule

1. Stay Consistent

In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you have to be consistent. With life being busy, you need to have consistency to keep you on track.

A simple routine each day is all you need to keep up a healthy and wholesome lifestyle.

You will feel more motivated to stick to healthy exercises and practices if they become a habit.

2. Take Time To Meal-Prep

One of the main excuses for not eating healthy is not having the time to cook or prepare healthy meals.

You can overcome this and completely remove this excuse by spending time on the weekend meal prepping for the week. Do a large grocery shop on the weekend and spend Sunday cooking meals that you can eat on the go for lunches.

These can be soups, rice dishes, or even smoothies. You will be cutting downtime spent preparing meals every day, while still ensuring you are eating healthily.

Get some meal-prep containers and spread out your meals. I like to meal-prep on Sunday for Monday to Wednesday and then again a small meal-prep on Wednesday for Thursday/Friday so I don’t get bored with my food.

3. Eat Full Meals Instead Of Snacking

Sometimes you can feel too busy to sit down and eat a meal and instead resort to snacking.

Even if you are snacking on healthy foods, such as almonds, trail mix, and yogurt, you would not be able to keep a total count of your calories and can easily go over your calorie count for the day.

You should instead sit down for your meals where you can properly count calorie content, and have set snacks for in between meals.

4. Prepare Smoothie Packages

Smoothies are an ideal way to reach your desired nutrient and vitamin goal for the day, without having to eat too much.

To make having smoothies daily easier, you can prepackage them for the week. Freeze small portions of your favorite fruit in freezer bags and place them in the freezer.

You can also pack small portions of other smoothie ingredients, such as chia seeds or protein powder, and leave these in the pantry.

When you want to make a smoothie, grab a bag of frozen fruit and protein powder and pour them into the blender with some liquid.

5. Eat More Vegetables

You can never have too many vegetables, and there are so many different ways to enjoy vegetables throughout the day.

You can snack on carrot and celery sticks, add spinach or kale to your smoothies, or even add chopped zucchini to bran muffins.

Try and find inventive and fun ways to include more vegetables into your diet.

Get a spiralizer and have fun with zucchini noodles and veggie pasta recipes.

This book is my favorite for getting creative with vegetables!

6. Increase Your Protein Intake

By increasing your protein intake and eating high-protein meals, you will be kept satisfied for longer and reduce your risk of snacking on unhealthy foods.

Unhealthy snacks will not keep you full for longer, and in turn, will then force you to eat more unhealthy snacks.

If you feel like you aren’t getting enough protein, consider supplementing with a protein shake. I like this pea-protein powder because it’s easy to digest and doesn’t bloat me like whey protein does.

7. Keep Healthy Snacks Close

If you always have a stash of healthy snacks close by, you will never be tempted to purchase crisps and chocolates.

Healthy snacks can include granola bars, kale chips, unsweetened dry fruit, and mixed nuts.

Just do not rely on these snacks alone, and remember to eat healthy meals throughout the day.

8. Eat Fresh Fruit Instead of Fruit Juice

Fruit juice bought from stores is often high in sugar, low in fiber, and devoid of most nutritional content.

Avoid purchasing fruit juices, and get rid of the idea that you can get your daily intake of fruit from fruit juice, and instead enjoy a fresh apple or banana when you feel like some fruit, and drink water to keep hydrated.

9. Order Healthy Meals When Out

When you sit down at a restaurant and are starving, it can be so easy to order an unhealthy meal.

You need to try and avoid this. While it is good to treat yourself once in a while, it can become a bit much when you eat out often.

Try and have a look at the menu beforehand and pick out healthy options, and choose a meal that has at least one vegetable side and a lean protein option.

10. Set Time For Yourself

Creating time to focus on yourself each day should be a habit you never shake off. You need to invest in your personal life. It isn’t selfish, it isn’t self-absorbed, it is a practice that will have benefits reaching out to every corner of your life.

Your self-care each day can be in the form of going to the gym in the morning, going for an afternoon walk, or doing a yoga session at home. This time should be about focusing on yourself and working towards a better, healthier you.

11. Stick To A Workout Schedule

When possible, work out at the same time each day.

Not only will this form a good routine and help you stick to your workout schedule, but over time your body will get used to exercising each day and you can use this to get into peak physical condition.

12. Join A Sports Team

Playing sports is such a wonderful way of keeping fit and exercising often.

It is a way to keep you accountable to others, so you don’t have to rely on your own self-discipline to exercise and keep fit.

Playing in a team also has such great social benefits as well.

13. Reduce Your Stress

Too much built-up stress can have a negative effect on your health. You need to deal with stress when you notice it.

Exercising, going for a walk, or doing some yoga all work really well to reduce stress, and help ground you back to a healthier state of mind.

14. Stay Hydrated

You need to ensure you drink enough water.

It can be so easy to forget to stay hydrated. Remind yourself to drink water by keeping a refillable bottle of water with you, and committing to refilling it every time it is empty.

Being properly hydrated has such a great impact on your health.

Grab a large water bottle and take it with you everywhere. Literally everywhere, even from your bedroom to the kitchen and stay hydrated throughout the day.
