3 Easy (And Legit) Ways To Get Free Gift Cards

Have you ever been curious as to how exactly people get free gift cards? There seems to be a lot of noise in the online community about them. A lot of different apps and websites making promises to give you gift cards when you fill out surveys or download apps. But are they legit?

The honest answer: yes and no.

There are a lot of scams online, but there are also a couple of honest and wholesome companies that do uphold their end of the bargain.

I have done all the research into the most popular companies that do give out free gift cards, so you don’t waste your time with the scams out there.

The best thing about these options is you can do all three! You don’t have to pick and choose. I am a personal user of the 3 companies I recommend below and they have no exclusivity deals, so sign up for all of them if they appeal to you and get triple the amount free gift cards!

Here are 3 Easy (and Legit) Ways To Get Free Gift Cards

1. Sign Up For Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a great site that allows users to earn points (known as SB) and then exchange them for gift cards to popular places like Amazon, Starbucks, and Target (to name a few).

Swagbucks offers a variety of ways to make SB. On the site you can:

Earn Points By Watching TV

Swagbucks has videos you can watch in exchange for SB. Open up the video tab and learn about new products and ideas. There are new videos offered every so often, so keep checking your ‘Watch’ tab often for new opportunities to earn points.

Earn Points By Shopping

You can earn points simply by logging on to Swagbucks before shopping online. Simply log in to your Swagbucks account and head to the ‘Shop’ tab. Type the name of the online store in the search bar and then proceed to shop as you regularly would. You earn a certain percent or SBs for your purchases. It doesn’t cost anything extra, and if you shop as much as I do on Amazon, you quickly get gift cards back.

Earn Points By Answering Questions

Swagbucks also offers the chance to answer surveys in exchange for points. Head to the ‘Answer” tab to give your opinion on topics in exchange for points. The surveys change regularly and you may not qualify for all of them, so I recommend setting aside 20 minutes a day just to answer questions and rack up the points.

Earn Points By Discovering

Search through the ‘Discover’ tab to find all sorts of offers. Discover new companies, ideas, or ideas. Each offer pays differently, and some can give a hefty amount of SB for completing them.

Earn Points By Searching

If you’re a human in the 21st-century it’s likely you search the web. You can do your internet searches through the ‘Search’ tab, or even install the search extension on your phone or computer. Basic internet searches earn you SBs, it’s super simple. A set-it-and-forget-it way to earn free gift cards.

Earn Points By Playing Games

A lot of people play games online already. SO how great is it to make money in exchange for game time. Head to the ‘Play’ tab to have some fun and score some free gift cards in the process.

It’s important to be consistent with Swagbucks. Always remember to log in and see what offers they have available. My favorite ways of earning free gift cards with them is through browsing the web in the ‘Search’ tab and printing grocery coupons in the ‘Shop’ tab.

2. Download the Drop App

Drop is an easy to use and passive (yes, really!!) way to earn Drop points for shopping at your favorite retailers and then exchanging those points for free gift cards.

This app is great because once you sign up, you can set-it-and-forget-it. It’s completely hands off and you earn points as you go about your day to day life.

When you sign up for the Drop App here, you will be asked the 5 retailers you shop the most at. There are a lot of great retailers such as Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, Chipotle, Macy’s, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Walgreens, Uber, and a bunch more!

Important: Choose your top 5 wisely because you aren’t allowed to go back and change it later on. So don’t pick Starbucks if you only go twice a year.

Is the Drop App Safe?

Yes, the Drop app is 100% safe and secure. Your bank card login credentials are NEVER stored on Drop’s servers.

Drop links to your account the same way popular apps like Acorns and Mint do. They use bank-level security to ensure all your information is protected. An no, they can’t see your bank balances, they do not have access to that information or any other personal information. They only scan your transaction data.

Best of all, Drop isn’t exclusive. So if you use other cashback sites, like Ebates or Ibotta, you can continue to do so and get double money back.

3. Join Ebates and Get Cashback

Sign up for Ebates here and get a free $10.00 gift card after your first purchase. On top of this, you earn cashback. This one isn’t as passive as the Drop app, as you have to remember to shop through the Ebates site, but once you get in the habit, it just comes naturally. If you’re forgetful, you can always download the extension on your browser and it will prompt you whenever you’re on an Ebates partner site.

You can redeem your savings in the form of cash or free gift cards to major retailers such as Amazon, Home Depot, or Starbucks; or you just pick up a free Visa gift card and spend your rewards anywhere you like. Sometimes there are extra incentives to accepting a gift card in lieu of cash.
